White Space donates gifts to Operation Christmas Child

The last two weeks has seen members of staff at White Space buying and wrapping small gifts for underprivileged children as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal run by the charity Samaritan’s Purse.

The appeal provides much appreciated gifts and hygiene aids to children aged 2-14 years around the world who are unlikely to receive presents during the Christmas period. A small donation of £2.50 with each shoebox of gifts ensures the cover of transportation, shipping and distribution costs to countries including Haiti, Mozambique, Ukraine and Bosnia.

The concept of wrapping a spare shoe box and filling it with treats for young boys and girls was one that many White Space staff were familiar with from their school days and were very happy to get involved with. Teddy bears, crayons, pens, toy cars, trucks, sweets, hair bands, puzzle books, stickers and balls were tightly packed in shoeboxes alongside toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes, flannels, warm woolly hats and football scarves.

The shoeboxes will be distributed along with nearly one million others from the UK around the world in the coming weeks enabling some of the poorest children in the developing countries to receive a gift this Christmas.
