White Space raise £1,000 for cancer charities at the 2011 Blenheim Triathlon
6 June 2011
Following a successful team relay entry in the 2010 Blenheim Palace triathlon, where each event was undertaken by a separate team member, two members of White Space decided to go it alone in 2011 and tackle the full triplet; swimming across the Great Lake, cycling around it, and finishing up with a run around the Queen’s Pool.
Sound like fun? Most people would consider a sunny day well-spent at a barbecue or on the beach, but raising an impressive £1,000, to be split between Cancer Research UK and Lymphoma & Leukaemia Research, was a hefty incentive.
Blessed with the perfect weather – warm enough that jumping in the lake was a relief from the heat of being in a wetsuit in the sunshine, but breezy enough to keep from sweltering on the run – Nick Edwards, Director of B2B, and Laura Hopkins, an analyst, swam, pedalled, and ran their way around the course.
They would like to extend their thanks to all those who supported them.
Laura Hopkins comments:
"Months of hard work and early morning training sessions paid off and I was really pleased to exceed both my sponsorship and time targets. I'm already planning the next one!"
